Example: Professional Re-Orientation

Professional re-orientation aims at supporting professionals during their individual process of reinventing themselves for the job market. With resource and solution oriented approaches, the existing potential in an individual is identified and strengthened. Possible options include: capacity development and training in areas related to the present occupations, self-employment or a new professional direction. The consulting process is based on the realistic desires of the professionals going through this process, the job market, and on written and verbal self-marketing.

Example: Coaching

Peer-Group Coaching (known in German as Kollegiales Gruppen-Coaching), for instance, is a method used for developing solutions in groups of six to eight participants. A group member describes a challenging and current situation with the aim of finding new perspectives and solutions. The process of finding solutions is simplified and structured, thanks to the fact that there are clear rules and assignments that follow specific coaching methods. By means of this exercise, all involved stakeholders profit: They acquire and strengthen their skills in the areas of communication, roles and facilitation. By including a set of theory inputs, the Peer-Group Coaching can be considered as a soft-skills-training. This method is regarded as a crucial management tool.

Example: Gender Management

From an economic point of view, mixed-gender-teams normally achieve better performance rates than one-gender-teams. In these cases, the concept of gender mainstreaming helps, as the different roles are respected and integrated in the existing organisational structure. When managing mixed-gender-teams, it is useful to know different patterns of communication, in order to take advantage of the existing diversity. Gender is a central element when shaping working relations. According to the Equality Law (in German Gleichstellungsgesetz or GlG), all employers are requested by law to establish measures against sexual discrimination.
